Honours Programme
As part of our commitment to excellence in every area, the Sixth Form is proud to include an exciting project known as the Honours Programme. Those academically gifted students who achieve seven GCSEs at grade 7 are automatically included and receive a broad package of support throughout their time in St Edward's.
The Honours Programme is an aspirational and adventurous initiative, designed to help the brightest of students reach the very best UK and international universities, in particular, Oxford and Cambridge or 'Oxbridge' as they are styled. Alongside excellent teaching, Honours students receive bespoke, one-to-one meetings with the Scholarship Coordinator in both years of study. The goal is to offer guidance, personal statement support, interview practise and general scholarly improvement to help students achieve their full intellectual potential and encouragement to aspire to elite institutions post-Sixth Form. The year is peppered with inspiring trips to several universities, such as Oxford, Durham and those in London. Similarly, we use the consultancy group known as 'Oxbridge Applications' to boost students' chances of success even further.
In summer 2023, five students gained places in Oxford and three in Cambridge. We look forward to building on this success year-on-year.
